Firstly congratulations go out to all that took part, you did your clubs proud.  Four youngsters from the south coast (Seaford) who achieved first kyu's and two students from North Birmingham who gained dan grades. After the grades were awarded, A.S.K.A secretary Dave Martin announced that  Sensei Ben Brown (Loscoe), A.S.K.A chief instructor Colin Hexley (North Birmingham) and our own Sensei Mick Davis (Sneyd) all received their sixth dans. We all know how much these guys have put into karate and A.S.K.A over the years and this reward is well deserved.  Finally congratulations also go to Sensei Jack Warner (Chairman/President) who was awarded seventh dan.  Sensi Warner who holds the respect of all in the association co founded A.S.K.A. along with Balwant Singh Sahans and Dan Bradley.

Central England competition 2009

Sunday 12th July we only had three competitors at this years event young Joe Drakeley, Mitchell Gibbons and Daniel Arnold.. Joe was unlucky to lose out in the first round losing  2 flags to 1, Mitchell was up against it after gaining his brown belt not long ago he found himself against dan grades and it proved to much this time, but the Sneyd were not to be denied a trophy and it was left to Daniel Arnold to reach the final and win with a quality Heian Yondan, well done Daniel hard training has paid off and hard luck to the other two...

   Its not always about winning

On Saturday the 7th of February 2009, there was a competition in Great Wyrley. With nearly all of Sneyd away at Twickenham for the rugby one competitor, Kyle Randall, set off with the courage to go it alone.  Unfortunately Kyle lost out early on but then came back for the repocharge only to lose bronze at the last hurdle. Although he came home empty handed Kyle showed guts and determination in competing on his own with the support of his Dad and should be congratulated. Competing alongside your team mates is hard enough, on your own harder still...!!
